From professional engagement with clinicians with novel ideas, followed by utlisation of staff expertise, the Centre designs marketable solutions for current challenges in health.

Clinical innovations include:

  • The blood barcode translation solution was designed by the Centre to reduce errors in blood dispensing, improve blood traceability and patient safety. The blood barcode translation system scans codabar, GS1 and 2D barcode symbology and accurately enters the data into relevant screen fields across all major pathology systems.
  • The Australian Centre for Health Innovation speed Launcher (CHIsL) enhances rapid roaming user sessions in conjunction with smart card authentication and standard Citrix or Terminal Services infrastructure.  CHIsL is now in commercial use as part of a workforce innovation trial.  As an alternative to manual logins for shared PC's, clinical trials of CHisL have demonstrated reductions in non value added time on electronic records and increased the number of times staff accessed electronic health records.
  • A satellite and mobile demonstration and evaluation capability provides the ability to take Centre demonstrations on the road. The solution enables staff to engage with health workers in their own location and setting, with the added benefit of utilising solutions hosted in our primary site.
