Immersive/High Fidelity Print E-mail

Scenario based learning uses clinical scenarios to contextualise skills learning. Trained simulation instructors work with teams facilitating confidential debriefing and discussing performance post simulation.  Simulation rooms are fitted with hospital grade equipment and supplies to simulate the required environment including high fidelity, computer controlled lifelike manikins.  Rooms can be styled to represent many different environments/themes.

  • Procedure room
  • ICU bay
  • Emergency bay
  • Consulting room
  • Operating theatre.

Simulators can also be taken mobile to allow for in-situ simulation training. Simulation provides a methodology of achieving and maintaining skills for deployment in an emergency, especially as critical incident occurrence may be rare with staff members having not seen any actual cases.

Clinical Resource Management (CRM)

Courses in Non Technical Skills of Clinical Resource Management (CRM) are conducted for a full range of health professionals. These courses provide participants with immersive simulation experience using adult learning principles.  While undertaking emergency procedures and critical incidents, non-technical skills, such as communication and leadership are practiced. During debrief sessions participants discuss the teams’ performance using key principles of Clinical Resource Management.

Monash University Malaysia Final Year Medical Students
‘Contemporary developments in clinical practice: Patient Safety’
MED5102 works with final year medical students to further develop the concept of 'readiness to practice' and focuses on the development of students' understanding of the principles of Patient Safety and related clinical competencies.

Audio Visual Recording for Debriefing
High fidelity simulation education programs in the Centre are supported by a world class audio visual recording system.
Audio visual systems provide:

  • digital storage (IP enabled) of all audio and visual content
  • live view and rapid retrieval of up to 4 views (quad split) during debrief
  • time line view of tagged events
  • free text tagging
  • wireless (mobile) system control
  • real time and after event archive to DVD

A centralised IP Video Conferencing codec enables the display of approved sessions to remote participants and enhances our function/conference room facilities.
