CHI becomes first industry node for Vic6 |
In November 2008, Premier John Brumby announced a $245 million strategy to boost the Victorian ICT industry, including funding for an Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6) testbed network (Vic6) to help Victorian industry experience IPv6 in practice. CHI has been an industry partner with Vic6 and now has connected our testbed to theirs. We are now well placed to safely test and demonstrate health applications working under the IP version 6 protocol. IPv6 is the foundation of the next generation of internet technology allowing innovation due to expanded features and mitigating risk associated with IP addresses shortages (expected to start running out in 2011).
